Valar Morghulis is a common greeting in Braavos, which means “all men (women) must die.” Warning: this post will discuss details from the show and contains spoilers.
Game of Thrones is known for killing off high profile characters. Sometimes the deaths are shocking like the Red Wedding or Jon Snow (except we all knew he would live). Some killings delight the fan base; Joffrey choking at his own wedding or Ramsay Bolton being eaten by his dogs. Another death that we are all looking forward to is that of the newly crowned Queen of Westeros. But who will kill Cersei Lannister? The oddsmakers at Bovada.lv have listed a special Game of Thrones prop bet to answer this question.
Who will kill Cersei Lannister?
In the season five premiere, young Cersei visits Maggy the Frog and is given a prophesy about her future. Cersei is told, “You’ll never wed the prince, you’ll wed the king, you’ll be queen, for a time. Then comes another, younger, more beautiful, to cast you down and take all you hold dear.” So far this has all come true, she never married Prince Rhaegar as promised but did wed King Robert. She is now the queen but Dany is coming for the thrown.
The fortune teller goes on to say, “The king will have 20 children and you will have three, gold will be their crowns and gold their shrouds.” Cersei and Jaime had Joffrey, Myrcella and Tommen, all dead.
What the show left out was one last prediction that Maggy made. “And when your tears have drowned you, the Valonqar shall wrap his hands about your pale white throat and choke the life from you.” Valonqar means little brother in Valyrian. Cersei’s younger brother is Tyrion, hence why she has always despised him.
Of course, there is a twist, this is Game of Thrones after all. Cersei and Jaime are twins but she was born first, so technically Jaime is her little brother too.
The Kingslayer has a history of killing those he has sworn to protect if that means saving lives. Jaime stabbed the Mad King in the back to prevent him from burning King’s Landing. Cersei already blew up the sept, could Jaime kill her to prevent another massacre?
If it’s not Jaime or Tyrion, then who? Arya Stark just laid waste to the entire Frey family and in the Season 7 premiere she told a bunch of soldiers she was headed south to kill the queen.
Then there are Dany’s three dragons. They are a quick flight away on Dragonstone.
Who will kill Cersei? We will find out soon enough.
