Do two games really matter when there are 14 more to play? Yes, in the NFL if a team starts 0-2 they might as well give up. In the last ten years, there have been 83 teams that started 0-2 and only nine (10.8%) have made the playoffs. Will your favorite team start 0-2?

The most likely teams to start 0-2 are the usual suspects. The Browns (61.6%), 49ers (57.1%), and Jets (53.7%) are more likely than not to lose their first two games.

Drew Brees and crew have the fifth best odds (43.5%) of being winless heading into Week 3. The Saints are expected to be competitive in 2017 but begin the year on the road against Minnesota and then host the Patriots in Week 2.

New England is the most likely Super Bowl champion but the Pats (7.0%) don’t have the best odds to avoid an 0-2 start. The Steelers, a threat to the Brady and Belichick in the AFC, have just a 5.3% chance of losing back-to-back games to begin the year thanks to a Week 1 matchup with the Browns.

No team wants to start 0-2. On average eight franchises won’t have a win heading into Week 3. A team can make the playoffs after an 0-2 start but it doesn’t happen often.
