The Chicago Bulls beat the Boston Celtics 106-102 in Game 1 of their first round series. Depending on whom you ask the game wasn’t much of an upset as some claim the Celtics are the worst No. 1 seed in NBA history. Up 1-0, could the Bulls do the unthinkable and sweep Boston?
Guess what? You can actually place a bet on the Celtics getting swept.
Will Chicago Bulls win series 4-0 (5Dimes)?

Per the simulations at FiveThirtyEight.com there is a 10.1% chance that the Bulls win the next three games and sweep the Celtics. The implied probability, according to the odds, gives Chicago a 7.5% chance of winning the series 4-0. This means that there is actually value placing this bet.
I wouldn’t race out to make this wager though. Game 1 was just the 12th time an 8 seed had beat a 1 seed to start a series. The 8 seed, per ESPN, went on to win the series just three of the previous 11 times. Plus, No 1-seed has ever been swept in the first round.
Furthermore, since 2005, after a win a No. 8 seed is just 14-42 (25%) straight-up. The Bulls opened +245 but only 10% of moneyline dollars are on Chicago to pull the upset. Fred Hoiberg’s squad is now +273 to win Game 2.
The Bulls might win the series and become just the sixth No. 8 seed to upset a No. 1 seed but I wouldn’t bet them to sweep the Celtics.
