Where will Carmelo Anthony be traded? The Knicks have been trying to make a deal for months but the better question might be, where does Melo want to play? The nine-time All-Star has all the power with his no-trade clause. Per reports, the 14-year veteran wants to go to Houston.
Where will Carmelo play in 2017? (BetOnline)
Team | Odds |
---|---|
Rockets | -130 |
Knicks | +275 |
Cavaliers | +600 |
Blazers | +1400 |
Field | +1200 |
The Rockets (-130) are the betting favorites to land Carmelo. The forward has said he would waive his no trade clause for Houston. The pairing of James Harden and Chris Paul makes the Rockets serious contenders (+900, 4th best odds) for the NBA title. Would adding Anthony threaten the Warriors dynasty?
LeBron can’t be ignored. The King is the best player in the NBA and Melo would make the Cavs even stronger favorites in the East. Cleveland is another team that Carmelo said he would waive his no-trade clause to join.
Of course, New York (+275 to keep Melo) doesn’t have to make a move at all or could potentially find another trade partner in a dark horse team (Field +1200). Either way, Anthony who average 22.4 points, 5.9 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game last year would be an asset to any team.
The Rockets are favored to acquire the Knicks All-Star but the NBA landscape can change quickly.
