Tom Brady and the New England Patriots completed one of the greatest comebacks in sports, rallying from a 25-point deficit to beat the Atlanta Falcons 34-28 in Super Bowl 51. The Pats were +1600 on the in-game money-line at William Hill. How does the Patriots comeback compare to recent upsets?

Trump becomes President

It is no secret that President Trump is a good friend with Tom Brady, Bill Belichick and owner Robert Kraft. Trump picked the Patriots to win in his interview before the Super Bowl.

On Tuesday morning of the election Trump was an underdog (+455) to win but like the Patriots that didn’t stop him from becoming the 45th president.

Cubs Win the World Series

The Chicago Cubs ended more than a century of futility by outlasting the Cleveland Indians 8-7 in ten innings in Game 7 of the World Series. The Cubbies rallied from a 3-1 series deficit to win the team’s first title since 1908. Down 3-1, the Cubs were +330 to win the World Series.

Cavs rally from down 3-1

LeBron James and the Cavs ended a 52-year major sports championship drought in Cleveland by upending the defending champion Golden State Warriors 93-89 in Game 7 of the NBA Finals. The Cavs were the first team to rally from a 3-1 series deficit in the Finals. Cleveland’s odds of winning it all were as high as +1450 but following a Game 5 win in which Draymond Green was suspended for Golden State, the Cavs were +425 trailing 3-2 in the series.

The stunning win by the Patriots really doesn’t compare to recent upsets. Now Brady has the most Super Bowl rings for a quarterback, same for Belichick as a coach. The pair can add greatest Super Bowl comeback to the long list of accomplishments.
