The Cleveland Cavaliers will begin the NBA Finals on the road, that won’t bother LeBron James. The Cavs star says he prefers playing on the road in the playoffs. James has won at least one game in 29 consecutive playoff series.

LeBron’s teams have gone 58-46 (55.8%) straight-up, +9.79 units in postseason road games. Can Cleveland take the first game of the NBA Finals in Oakland?

History is not on their side, despite LeBron’s excellent record away from home.

For starters, the Cavaliers are +269 moneyline dogs. LeBron has been a road dog of +250 or greater 14 times. His teams are 3-11 straight-up in those games.

LeBron consistently wins at least one game on the road but few have come in the opening game of a series. In Game 1, when LeBron is on the road, his teams have gone 2-10 straight-up. In all other road games LeBron is 56-36 (60.9%).

He might not win in Game 1 but does he cover? Not really. LeBron’s teams are 4-8 against-the-spread on the road in Game 1.

LeBron is one of the best to ever play the game and the Cavs and Warriors have combined to go a perfect 13-0 in road games this year in the playoffs but in Game 1 of the Finals Golden State will likely win.
