Gonzaga, Villanova and Kansas sit atop the AP Poll for a third straight week. There is no denying the fact that these are some of the best teams in the country but where do they fall in the Bet Labs’ Power Rankings?

To find out we simulated each of the AP Poll top 25 teams against each other on a neutral court 10,000 times and ranked them based on winning percentage in those games.

Our Power Rankings agree that Gonzaga is the top team in the country. The Zags are the only undefeated team in Division I and have repeatedly been our pick to win the NCAA tournament. The defending champion Wildcats rank No. 2, just like in the AP poll but after the top teams our Power Rankings begin to disagree with the polls.

Overrated

According to our simulations, the most overrated teams in the country are Kansas (a top 10 team, not top 3), UCLA and Arizona – two teams that are fringe top 25 squads, not top 5 programs.

Underrated

After 10,000 simulations, one of the most underrated teams in the polls is Virginia. The Hoos have lost three straight including a blowout at North Carolina last Saturday. Yet UVA is still No. 1 in defensive efficiency and will be a threat in the tournament.

Other teams that are underrated include West Virginia and Wichita State. Both teams, like Virginia, are better defensively than offensively, which hints to defensive minded teams being underrated by the polls.
