Dwyane Wade is a free agent. The Chicago Bulls and the 12-time All-Star agreed to a buyout on Sunday. There are a number of teams around the NBA that would like to the sign the 35-year old guard. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting that Wade will likely be choosing between four teams: Cleveland, Miami, Oklahoma City and San Antonio. Which team is the favorite to acquire his services?
Where will Dwyane Wade play Game 1 of the 2017-18 NBA Season?
- Cleveland Cavaliers 2/3
- Miami Heat 2/1
- Oklahoma City Thunder 9/2
- San Antonio Spurs 9/2
According to the odds at Bovada, the Cavs are 2/3 favorites to land Wade. Cleveland only has $2.5 million to offer the veteran guard and it would cost the team $10.5 million in luxury tax if they add Wade (per ESPN). But what’s money if you can play with one of your best friends.
Wade is also buddies with Carmelo Anthony who recently was traded to Oklahoma City. The Thunder’s odds to win the NBA Championship moved from 25/1 to 12/1 after adding Melo. Wade is in the twilight of his career but could still be a contributor to a playoff contender.
We won’t have to wait long to find out where Wade goes. Speaking to the Associated Press on Sunday night, he said he might decide his next move quickly. Wade has a list of suitors after his buyout. His most likely destination is Cleveland to team up with his buddy LeBron.
