The NFL released its 2017 NFL schedule on Thursday night. Here are a few interesting nuggets and betting trends to know.

The reigning champions will kickoff the season at home against the Kansas City Chiefs. The early line for the Week 1 opener is Patriots -7. Tom Brady at home against non-division teams is 50-30 ATS. Tom Brady at home against non-division teams as favorites of 7 or more points is 24-20 ATS.

The Super Bowl 51 rematch doesn’t occur until Week 7. The Falcons famously blew a 28-3 lead before losing in overtime to the Patriots.

Ten teams have the maximum number of five prime-time games in 2017. In the last 5 years, since drafting Russell Wilson, the Seahawks have been the best team against-the-spread in primetime. Seattle has four prime-time games this year.

Neither the Browns nor Jaguars play in primetime, which means no short weeks for either team. Last year, underdogs (which Cleveland and Jacksonville likely would be) on short rest went 15-24 (39%) ATS.

Once again the NFL will have a triple-header on Thanksgiving. The Lions will host the Vikings in the early game. The favorite in the early game on Thanksgiving (kickoff 1pm ET or before) is 11-1 ATS since 2006.

Per ESPN’s Brian Burke, the Giants will have a NFL-high four games against teams coming off a bye. In the last two years, teams facing opponents off a bye are 50-73 (41%) ATS.

Some of the Best Games

Week 1: Cowboys vs. Giants

Dallas is listed as 5.5 point favorites to start the season. As favorites in NFC East games the Cowboys are 18-33 (35%) ATS including 1-3 ATS last year.

Week 2: Falcons vs. Packers

Assuming Atlanta is favored over the Packers, they rolled Green Bay 44-21 in the playoffs, Matt Ryan as a home favorite is 10-20 ATS in the last five years.

Week 7: Patriots vs. Falcons

A rematch of Super Bowl 51, Tom Brady has covered 62% of games at home against AFC teams but is 14-12 ATS vs. the NFC.

Week 13: Redskins vs. Cowboys

This could be a pivotal game in deciding the NFC East winner. Since 2010, the Redskins are 10-4 ATS vs. the Cowboys.

Week 15: Steelers vs. Patriots

Could this game decide who has home field advantage in the AFC? Hopefully the Patriots are favored in Heinz Field, Ben Roethlisberger is 7-2 ATS as a home underdog.
