It’s not even summer yet but many sports fans are already looking ahead to the fall and the return of football. For the pigskin fanatics out there BetOnline recently posted win totals for the 2017 college football season. Which squads are expected to rack up the wins when the season kicks off?
Alabama (+350) is the favorite to win the College Football Playoff. The oddsmakers have opened the Tide at 10.5 wins. After Nick Saban’s first year in Tuscaloosa, the Tide have won 10 or more games every regular season and have averaged more than 11 wins in that time. The OVER 10.5 is heavily juiced at -425 (bet $425 to win $100) odds. The implied probability suggests Bama has a 81.0% chance of winning at least 11 games.
Florida State and Ohio State also have win totals of 10.5. The OVER is juiced for the Buckeyes but the bookmakers are expecting the UNDER to get more action for the Noles.
Jim Harbaugh has made Michigan a powerhouse once again. The Wolverines won ten games during the regular season last year; its two losses were by a combined four points. Big Blue’s win total is listed at 10 games but the UNDER is juiced.
USC is the final team listed with a win total (9.5). The Trojans have the early Heisman favorite and will like receiving a lot of support on the OVER, which has odds of -150.
More team win totals will be posted as we get closer to the start of the season. Remember, for these bets to count a team must play all of their scheduled regular season games.
