Biggest Money-line Upsets

Howard (+60000) at UNLV

UNLV paid Howard $600,000 to play them in the season opener. Few expected the Bison to win, the oddsmakers listed the Rebels as 45-point favorites at some books. Howard shocked UNLV 43-40 and cashed big for anyone brave enough to bet them on the moneyline.

Liberty (+7500) at Baylor

Stephen Calvert threw for 447 yards and three touchdowns to help Liberty upset Baylor 48-45. It was just the second time ever that the Bears had lost to an FCS opponent.

Maryland (+689) at Texas

After the disappointing Charlie Strong era, Tom Herman was supposed to return Texas to glory. A shiny top 25 ranking was quickly taken away when Maryland outplayed the Longhorns 51-41 in Austin. The win for the Terps snapped a 17-game skid against ranked opponents.

Tennessee State (+550) at Georgia State

This is not how you want to the first college football game to go at your new (refurbished) stadium. Tennessee State forced four turnovers and held Georgia State to less than 300 yards of offense in a 17-10 upset.

Alabama vs. Florida State

Once again it looks like everyone in college football will be chasing Alabama. The Tide looked impressive in their 24-7 win over Florida State. Bama forced three turnovers, plus had a blocked punt and field goal. No. 1 teams in the preseason AP Poll are now 11-2 ATS in Week 1 since 2005.

No Fun League

Did you know a touchdown can be taken off the board for excessive celebration in college football? It happened in Mizzou’s 72-43 win over Missouri State. Running back Damarea Crockett busted a 75-yard touchdown run but the score was taken off the board because he dove into the end zone. Fortunately for the Tigers, the ridiculous penalty didn’t cost them the game.

Muffed Punt

Wyoming freshman punter Tim Zaleski completely missed a punt attempt against Iowa. It is a play you don’t see often. The miscue setup a 27-yard touchdown for Iowa and helped the Hawkeyes pull away.

Trend Highlight – Opening Game Buying High

Betting bowl teams from the previous season when the line moves against them in Week 1 has been incredibly profitable. Since 2006, this Pro System has never had a losing season. It went 22-18 (55.0%) ATS to start 2017.
